Bamboo rod ferrules are sized to the outside diameter (OD) of your blank at the ferrule station. To choose the right fly rod ferrule: measure the OD of the blank where the ferrule will seat, then select the ferrule whose female bore matches that diameter. Our nickel silver ferrules cover the common range used on roughly 2–9 wt bamboo fly rods. If you're between sizes, choose the closest and fit with a light lap for a slip-free seat.
Clean and lightly scuff the cane station, dry-fit the ferrule for a snug slip fit, then bond with a quality rod-builder's epoxy. Align the female and male sections, wipe excess, and cure fully before wrapping. A correctly fitted ferrule seats with a clean "pop" and no wobble.
What is a ferrule on a fly rod? A ferrule is the metal joint that connects two sections of a multi-piece rod, transferring the bend smoothly across the joint while letting the rod break down for transport.
What size ferrule do I need? Match the ferrule to the outside diameter of your blank at the ferrule station — measure with calipers and pick the nearest size.
Can I use these to repair or replace a broken ferrule? Yes. These nickel silver ferrules are ideal for repairing or replacing a damaged ferrule on a bamboo or cane fly rod.
Are these ferrules sold individually or in sets? See the variant options above for available sizes and male/female set configurations.
