Choosing a rod or blank

Should I choose a finished rod or a rod blank?

A finished rod includes the listed grip, reel seat, guides, wraps and final assembly. A blank is the bamboo foundation for a build you complete. Read the chosen product and configuration to confirm exactly what is supplied.

How do I choose my first bamboo fly rod?

Start with your usual water, flies and fly-line weight. Then compare length, taper, section count and the distances you actually fish. If you are unsure, send us that context; line weight alone does not describe how a rod feels.

Find a starting rod
Are two tips the same as a two-piece rod?

No. Section count describes the assembled rod. Tip count describes how many tip sections are supplied. A spare tip does not change the assembled rod length or section count.

What does the ferrule option on a blank mean?

The chosen variant states the ferrule configuration. Do not assume an unferruled blank includes loose ferrules, or that any ferrule, grip or reel seat will fit. Confirm supplied items and dimensions before ordering components.

Use the current general estimates below, then check the schedule for your selected product and configuration. Made-to-order time is separate from carrier transit.
