Uplocking or Downlocking Reel Seat?
An uplocking fly reel seat positions the locking hardware toward the grip. A downlocking reel seat secures the reel toward the butt and can shift reel position and balance on shorter rods. Neither layout is universally better; choose according to blank dimensions, grip design, intended reel and the finished balance you want.
Compare overall length, installation bore, weight and reel-foot fit on each product page. “Wood reel seat” describes the insert, not a wooden fly reel. Confirm the hardware finish and dimensions rather than choosing from color alone.
