What to ask before booking
Confirm the dates, location, language of instruction, group size and what materials or tools are supplied. Ask whether the course starts with raw cane or a prepared blank, what operations are taught, and what work can realistically be completed during the sessions.
Preparing to learn
Learn the difference between taper measurements and component fitting dimensions. Familiarize yourself with the main stages of a build, and keep questions about the actual method and materials ready for the instructor. A short course should not be treated as a guarantee that every first rod will be complete or ready to fish.
